Oil and Filter: The Non-Negotiable

The MB 229.52 specification is a low-SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus, sulfur) formulation designed for long service intervals and compatibility with particulate filters. Not all synthetic oils meet this spec -- look for the MB approval number on the bottle. Mobil 1 ESP, Castrol EDGE Professional, and Liqui Moly Top Tec 6200 are commonly approved.
