How to use this Nissan maintenance hub

This page is the starting point for Nissan owners. It covers four models, each with its own full maintenance guide built from Nissan's owner's manuals: the Altima, the Rogue, the 370Z and the Frontier. Pick your model below, check that your model year is inside the range the guide covers, and follow the link for the complete schedule.

Each section lists the generation, the model years the schedule was checked against, the engines, and a handful of headline intervals. The model guides carry the rest: every inspection item, the severe-use schedule in full, and the year-by-year changes.

A Nissan schedule depends on the engine as much as the model. The same Rogue manual prints two different schedules for two engines, and the turbocharged Altima has shorter oil, brake-fluid and cabin-filter intervals than the 2.5-liter one. Know your engine before you read a number off any chart.

What these four Nissan schedules have in common

A few rules repeat across the four models covered here. Each is scoped to the manuals it comes from; none of it is a claim about every Nissan ever built.

• Spark plugs: replace every 105,000 miles (168,000 km) on the Altima (2019–2022), Rogue (2021–2022), 370Z (2019) and Frontier (2022 and 2024 manuals). The Altima and Rogue manuals set this by mileage only, and the Altima, Rogue and 370Z manuals say to replace plugs early if the gap goes out of spec.
• Engine coolant: the first replacement is at 105,000 miles (168,000 km) or 84 months, then every 75,000 miles (120,000 km) or 60 months, on the same four models. The Altima, Rogue and 370Z manuals name Nissan Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant (blue).
• A standard and a severe-use schedule: all four manuals print severe-use intervals (the 370Z as a separate table). The Frontier manual defines severe use as towing, short trips, dust, rough or salted roads, or a car-top carrier. The Altima manuals tie severe CVT fluid (2019–2020) and AWD fluid changes to a car-top carrier or rough or muddy roads; the 2021 Rogue manual's severe CVT replacement includes towing, a camper or a car-top carrier.
• Oil Control System: only the Altima (2019–2022) and Rogue (2021–2022) use it. You change the oil when the oil replacement indicator comes on, within 2 weeks or 500 miles (≈800 km) of it showing. The 2019 370Z and Frontier manuals list fixed mileage and month intervals instead.

CVT fluid on the Altima and Rogue

Both the Altima and the Rogue covered here use a CVT. In both, the standard schedule only inspects the fluid; any replacement is a severe-use item.

• Altima 2021–2022: "Replace CVT transmission fluid" appears in the manual's severe-use schedule at 60,000 miles (96,000 km); the 2.5-liter schedule lists it again at 120,000 miles (≈193,000 km).
• Altima 2019–2020: if you use a car-top carrier or drive on rough or muddy roads, have the dealer check the fluid for deterioration every 60,000 miles (96,000 km) and change it if needed, or simply change it at that interval.
• Rogue 2021 (2.5-liter): under severe use, including towing, a camper or a car-top carrier, replace it at 60,000 and 120,000 miles.
• Rogue 2022 (1.5-liter VC-Turbo): no CVT fluid replacement in either schedule, standard or severe. Inspect only.

The 370Z and Frontier are not CVT models. The 2019 370Z manual says of its automatic transmission fluid that periodic maintenance is not required, and the Frontier uses a 9-speed automatic with its own inspect-and-severe rules.

Nissan Altima (2019–2022)

Generation: L34, sixth generation. Years checked: 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 manuals. Engines: 2.5L PR25DD four-cylinder and 2.0L KR20DDET VC-Turbo four-cylinder; AWD comes only with the 2.5-liter.

• Oil and filter: replace when the Oil Control System indicator shows. The schedule tables it at every 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or 12 months for the 2.5-liter and 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or 12 months for the VC-Turbo. If the indicator stops working, change within 6 months or 5,000 miles (8,000 km) on the 2.5-liter, or 3,750 miles (6,000 km) on the VC-Turbo.
• Tire rotation: every 5,000 miles (8,000 km) or 6 months on the 2.5-liter; every 7,500 miles or 12 months on the VC-Turbo.
• Brake fluid: replace every 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or 24 months on the 2.5-liter and every 15,000 miles (≈24,000 km) or 24 months on the VC-Turbo.
• Cabin air filter: the interval tightened in the 2021 manual, to 10,000 miles or 12 months on the 2.5-liter (from 15,000 miles or 18 months in 2019–2020).

Nissan Rogue (2021–2022)

Generation: T33, third generation. Years checked: 2021 and 2022 manuals. Engines: in the US, the 2021 Rogue used the 2.5L PR25DD four-cylinder, and the 2022 Rogue switched to the 1.5L KR15DDT VC-Turbo three-cylinder across the lineup. Both manuals print both schedules, so read the one for your engine.

• Oil and filter: Oil Control System on both. The schedule lists every 10,000 miles or 12 months for the 2021 2.5-liter and every 7,500 miles or 12 months for the 2022 VC-Turbo.
• Tire rotation: every 5,000 miles or 6 months (2.5-liter); every 3,750 miles or 6 months (VC-Turbo).
• Engine air filter: replace every 30,000 miles (48,000 km), at 36 months on the 2.5-liter and 48 months on the VC-Turbo; more often in dusty conditions.
• Cabin air filter: replace every 15,000 miles or 18 months (2.5-liter) or 11,250 miles (≈18,000 km) or 18 months (VC-Turbo).
• AWD fluids: the rear differential, AWD coupling and transfer case fluids are inspect-only in both schedules, with no replacement listed.

Nissan 370Z (2019)

Generation: Z34, sixth generation. Year checked: the 2019 manual; this guide covers the 2019 model year. Engine: 3.7L VQ37VHR V6 with a timing chain, which has no scheduled maintenance.

• Oil and filter: replace every 5,000 miles or 6 months. The manual sets this as a fixed interval.
• Tire rotation: not possible. Nissan says the 370Z's front tires are a different size from the rears and the rotation direction is fixed.
• Brake fluid: replace every 20,000 miles or 24 months on the standard schedule; inspect the pads and rotors every 10,000 miles or 12 months.
• Manual transmission and differential gear oil: inspect every 10,000 miles or 12 months. With a car-top carrier or on rough or muddy roads, change it every 20,000 miles or 24 months.
• Intelligent Key battery: replace every 15,000 miles or 18 months.

Nissan Frontier (2022 and 2024 manuals)

Generation: D41, third generation. Years checked: the 2022 and 2024 manuals. Engine: 3.8L VQ38DD V6 with a timing chain (no scheduled maintenance), paired with a 9-speed automatic.

• Oil and filter: every 7,500 miles or 6 months on the standard schedule; every 5,000 miles or 6 months under severe use (towing, short trips, dust, rough or salted roads, or a car-top carrier).
• Brake fluid: replace every 30,000 miles or 24 months standard, or every 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or 12 months under severe use.
• Transmission fluid: inspect every 15,000 miles or 12 months. On the 2022–2023 schedule, change it at 30,000 miles or 24 months only when towing, using a car-top carrier, or driving on rough or muddy roads; from 2024 the replacement applies to all severe-use conditions.
• Transfer case and differential (4WD): inspect every 15,000 miles or 12 months; under severe use, replace every 20,000 miles or 24 months.
• Intelligent Key battery: inspect at 22,500 miles (≈36,000 km) or 18 months, then replace at 45,000 miles (≈72,000 km) or 36 months and every 22,500 miles after that.
