Chevy Corvette Maintenance Schedule (C8, 2020–2026)

The C8 Corvette has no fixed oil-change mileage. GM's Oil Life System decides, and the oil and filter must be changed at least once a year. Tire rotation and the Required Services come every 7,500 miles (12,000 km). The dual-clutch transmission (DCT) fluid is changed every 45,000 miles (72,000 km) or three years from 2023, and its external canister filter first at 7,500 miles, then at 22,500 miles (36,000 km) and every 22,500 miles after that.

This guide covers the C8 Corvette sold in the US for model years 2020 through 2026, using GM's owner's manual for each of those years. The engines are the 6.2L LT2 V8 (including the E-Ray hybrid, 2024–2026), the 5.5L LT6 V8 of the Z06 (2023–2026), and the 5.5L LT7 twin-turbo V8 of the ZR1 (2025–2026) and the ZR1X (2026). A row says which model it applies to; a row with no such note applies to every covered car. Corvettes built before the 2020 model year are not covered, and this page gives no figures for them.

How the Oil Life System sets oil changes

GM gives the Corvette no fixed oil-change mileage. The Oil Life System signals service with a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message. GM's rules are:

• When CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON appears, have the engine oil and filter changed within the next 600 miles (1,000 km).
• Under the best conditions the system may not ask for service for up to a year. The oil and filter must still be changed at least once a year, and the system must be reset after the change.
• The oil life percentage is checked at every 7,500-mile (12,000 km) service.
• If the oil life system is reset by accident, service the car within 3,000 miles (≈4,800 km) of the last service.

GM's 2026 owner's manual specifies SAE 0W-40 oil for the 6.2L LT2 and SAE 5W-50 for the 5.5L engines, dexos-approved.

The 7,500-mile service

GM labels this visit Tire Rotation and Required Services. The oil life percentage is also checked at this service.

• Tires: rotate them. If the front and rear tires are different sizes, do not rotate them front to rear. Use the side-to-side pattern.
• Brakes: the 2020–2022 manuals say to inspect the brake system. From 2023 the visit is a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection, and its list includes a brake system check.
• Battery, 2023–2026: the Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection adds a visual inspection of the 12-volt battery, a battery test and a check of the cables and connections.

GM's manuals also include a suspension and steering inspection in these services rather than listing it as a separate item.

Dual-clutch transmission fluid and filter

This is the item that changed most within the C8 run. The fluid and the external canister filter have separate rules.

Fluid, 2020–2022. GM sets no fixed mileage. The Fluid Life System decides:

• Check the fluid life at 45,000-mile (72,000 km) intervals, and replace the fluid and filter when it is below 10%.
• Change the fluid within 600 miles (1,000 km) when CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID SOON appears, and at least every three years.
• If the system is reset by accident, change the fluid 45,000 miles (72,000 km) after the last change.
• Competitive or aggressive driving may need more frequent changes.

Fluid and filter, 2023–2026. Change the transmission fluid and the external canister filter every 45,000 miles (72,000 km) or three years, or within 600 miles (1,000 km) when CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID SOON appears. If the Fluid Life System is reset by accident, change the fluid 45,000 miles (72,000 km) after the last change.

External canister filter, every model year. The first change is due at 7,500 miles (12,000 km), and GM says the initial change must be performed. After that, GM lists it at 22,500 miles (36,000 km) and every 22,500 miles after that (45,000, 67,500 and so on). At each canister change, check the fluid life and replace the fluid too if it is below 10%.

Engine and cabin air filters

Cabin air filter. Replace it every 22,500 miles (36,000 km) or 24 months, whichever comes first, in every covered model year. GM says to replace it more often in heavy traffic, poor air quality or high dust.

Engine air filter. This one changed with the model year:

• 2020: on cars without the engine air filter life system, replace it every 45,000 miles (72,000 km) or four years, whichever comes first. On cars with the system, replace it at the next oil change when REPLACE AT NEXT OIL CHANGE appears, or as soon as convenient when REPLACE ENGINE AIR FILTER SOON appears.
• 2021–2022: the life system drives the change. Check its percentage at every 7,500-mile service and replace the filter on the same two messages, and at least every four years.
• 2023–2026: the filter is condition-based. Replace it on the same two messages. GM states no mileage or time limit.

In the 2020–2022 manuals, GM says to inspect the filter at each oil change in dusty conditions.

Spark plugs

Replace the spark plugs every 97,500 miles (156,000 km), and inspect the plug wires and/or boots at the same time. GM gives this one interval for every covered model year and version.

Coolant and the E-Ray

Engine coolant. Drain and fill the engine cooling system every 150,000 miles (240,000 km) or five years, whichever comes first, for 2020–2022. For 2023–2026 the limit is six years.

E-Ray, 2024–2026. GM adds two items for the hybrid:

• Drain and fill the power electronics cooling system and the rechargeable energy storage system coolant every 150,000 miles (240,000 km) or five years, whichever comes first.
• Front hybrid drive unit fluid has no scheduled replacement on the normal schedule. In severe service, change it every 45,000 miles (72,000 km). GM describes severe service as mainly heavy city traffic in hot weather, hilly or mountainous terrain, high-speed or competitive driving, or taxi, police or delivery use.

GM's 2026 manual labels both items for the E-Ray only. It gives no interval for the ZR1X, so this page gives no figure for it.

Brake fluid and other time-based items

• Brake fluid: replace it every five years, in every covered model year.
• Front lift system fluid: on cars with the front lift system, replace it every five years.
• Air conditioning desiccant: replace it every seven years.
• Accessory drive belts, 2020–2022: inspect them every 150,000 miles (240,000 km) or 10 years for fraying, excessive cracking or damage, and replace them if needed. The 2023–2026 manuals no longer list this inspection.

What changed in 2023

The 2023 manual changed several rows at once. Coolant moved from five years to six. The dual-clutch fluid item moved from a fluid-life check to a fixed 45,000-mile or three-year change of fluid and filter. The drive belt inspection and the four-year engine air filter limit left the schedule, and the Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection joined every 7,500-mile service. The 2023 manual also states that there are no additional severe-service items; from 2024, the E-Ray's front hybrid drive unit fluid is the one severe-service item.

What GM does not schedule

• Rear differential fluid. There is no such item. GM describes the dual-clutch transmission as containing an integrated rear differential.
• Brake pad and battery replacement. GM lists neither. The Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection from 2023 inspects the brakes and tests the battery at every 7,500-mile service.
• Fuel system cleaning. Not in GM's schedule.
• ZR1X coolant and front drive unit fluid. The E-Ray items above carry no ZR1X entry.
